I’ve competed at a few of the local Thames Turbo Triathlon races over recent years and enjoyed every one of them – from the first time that I took part on a mountain bike, to a borrowed road racing bike and then my own road bike. They are friendly brilliantly organised events and on a day like today, where the sun was out and the temperature set to rise into the 20′s I planned to pop along on the bike (it’s only about four miles away) to support friends taking part and to get a few photos.
Starting with the pool swim shortly after 7am the first piece of pool ‘carnage’ was a head-on collision between the first two competitors! The second chap was clearly at fault but no harm was done…
Once the leaders had headed out onto the bike leg (which I chose not to go and watch) I went into Bushy Park to set up position where I thought would create a lovely background to the photos of the leading men and women as they ran the 5k course. I got exactly what I wanted.
Here’s a small selection of the photos and for a full set please check out the rest of the gallery (or tag your friends in the set that’s over on Facebook). I only hung around for the first few runners as I was in need of a coffee by that point so headed back to the pool.
