Prologue London Dynamo Richmond Park Time Trial

After covering the first race of the 2011 Richmond Park TT bike race series I was back in Richmond Park bright and early (before 6am!) on Sunday 24th July for the second race of the series.

This time I chose to give the riders a bit of a break and rather than photograph them at the apex of a hill I went for a side-on shooting opportunity a little further into the course. Primarily I got photos of riders on their way ‘out’ on the course but also snapped quite a few frames of them on their return when possible.

A full set of photos are now online at the gallery.

2011 Rollapaluza Urban Hill Climb

On an overcast (and showery) July evening after a super impressive stage of the Tour de France it was time to see some real cycling action in the flesh.  We headed over to Swain’s Lane in Highgate, North London to enjoy the 2011 Rollapaluza Urban Hill Climb.  This is the second running of this closed road hill climb trial and over 120 riders were signed up for around 90 seconds (well, for the fast ones that is) of torture.

Naturally we found a spot on a seriously steep section of the climb from where we took photos and shouted ‘Allez Allez Allez’ at everyone who rode past.  From full on speed tuned road racing bikes, fixed gear ‘courier style’ rides through to fold-up Bromptons and London hire ‘Boris Bikes’ there was plenty to keep you entertained.

Cycling Weekly features Mark Telford

The 21 July issue of Cycling Weekly magazine features a four page article in their Fitness section about hand-cycling specialist Mark Telford from London.

Mark, who was a racing cyclist had a horrific accident at the age of 18 which left him with a broken back.  After success with wheelchair racing (3rd in the UK at marathon distance) he has now moved over to (and fallen in love) with hand cycles.

In his quest to improve and race at world level the article details a typical training week for Mark – which culminated in the recent Prologue London Dynamo Richmond Park TT event (see blog post).  A couple of our photos of Mark from the event feature in the Cycling Weekly article and we should be out getting some more action shots of Mark in late July at the second Richmond Park TT of 2011.

Cycling Weekly magazine is published on 21 July 2011 and available in shops for seven days.
